Vogue’s Got A Berry Good Look!!!

As we slowly but surly creep towards the end of summer, one thing the world highly awaits and looks forward to is the September issue of American Vogue, this year editor and chief to the fashion bible Anna Wintour , picked the stunning Ms. Halle Berry to grace the iconic cover . Obviously they asked none other than our very own color director Anthony Palermo  to add his signature  to this masterpiece.  His predictions for a gorgeous fall look …. It’s a super chic shorter haircut he says, beautiful shades of chocolate , with ribbons of caramel , honey, and of course a berry on top!!

Let’s Make Arrangements…

Since the beginning of time (…that’s Anthony Leonard Salon time)  we have been asked repeatedly, “Who is your florist??”  Giggles flow through the salon with big grins at clients’ reactions to the same response—”Leonard Does It!”

Leonard Zagami is not only the salon’s Creative Director for Beauty, he is also the person responsible for making the salon feel and look magical.  A wizard of many crafts, his passion and endless search for all things beautiful is a gift.  Most recently, a client asked him if he could make floral arrangements for her East Hampton Villa.  Leonard smiles and says, “If only there were more hours in the day!”

Ready…Set….GOLD!!!

I can speak for all hairdressers when I say Marilyn Monroe was the ultimate muse.  Her natural gift of style, beauty, elegance, and grace changed the glam world we live in.  June is such a powerful month—It’s the kick-off of summer,  and the beginning of many love stories to be told.
I was really excited to pair up our June Product of the Month with one of the biggest icons known to man.   Being a gemini myself, I understand the attraction to glimmer, shine, color, lights, camera, action!
Oribe 24K Gold Pomade is as genius as the man who created it!
My theory for Marilyn Monroe: Every woman wants to be her, Every man wants to be with her.
My theory for Oribe: Some like it hot, Some like it gold!

Works with every shade of hair color!

Have a great summer everyone

Keratin: Win-Win?

Keratin Treatments are ever so popular now that the humid summer is on its way—and we tend to get the same questions from all first-timers:

Will it make my hair pin-straight?  Will I lose my curl completely?  Will I still have body?

The answers are: NO, NO, and YES, respectively

After your first treatment, you will be required to wait 72 hours before you can wash your hair—which may mislead you into thinking your hair is going to stay flat.  It is after your first wash that you realize that the Keratin Treatment has changed your life.  It takes out the frizz so you have the option to make it straight if you want, but it still leaves you with body.  A client recently thanked Anthony Leonard Salon for saving her marriage!  Now that her husband isn’t stuck waiting for her to be ready for 2 hours while she blow-dries her hair anytime they go somewhere.   She credits the Keratin Treatment for why he is less cranky and they fight much less…It also helps that she feels sexier with her new and improved hair texture.   But, the best part about it is what it actually does for her—more time, less effort, more beauty, less frizz.   It’s a win-win-win-win!

Anthony & Leonard’s Best/Worst Dressed: Oscars 2010

Judging from the opinions expressed by clients and stylists at Anthony Leonard Salon, many agree that this year’s Red Carpet at the Oscars was nothing spectacular.  Many of the stars made beautiful gowns seem unattractive simply because they were ill-fitted.  Were the top seamstresses on vacation last month, or were the mirrors distorting body images?  Particularly, those mentioned from this category were Sarah Jessica Parker, Vera Farmiga, Miley Cyrus, among others.  Despite the negativity, and without further ado, here we present Anthony and Leonard’s Best and Worst Dressed for the 2010 Oscars:

Anthony’s Best Dressed Pick:

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture

Anthony:  A different actress may not have been able to pull off this gown, but Zoe Saldana was iconic Hollywood glamour in this dress.  The purple hues complemented her skin tone, and Zoe’s height kept the gown looking fierce and perfectly tailored to her body.

Anthony’s Choice for Worst Dressed:

Sigourney Weaver in Lanvin

Sigourney Weaver in Lanvin

Anthony:  For a woman of her height, age, and status, this dress was a poor choice.  The black sash and overall fit of the dress was not flattering for a 6-foot woman, not to mention the hairstyle!

Leonard’s Best Dressed Pick:

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa

Leonard: My pick for best-dressed goes to Sandra Bullock because she really did look like a movie star.  Her sparkling cap sleeve made her shine even more as she awaited her category.

Leonard’s Worst Dressed Pick: Undeclared

Leonard: I can’t decide!  I might have picked Tina Fey, but I like her a lot so I’ll avoid the negative remarks on this one!

Lust, Ecstasy, Cherry Pie: New Scandalous Barielle Nail Colors!

“Vivid,” “Pin Up,” “Glammed Out Garnet,” “Ecstasy,” and “Lust,” are just some of the fun colors put out by Barielle Nail Polish—-just in time for V-Day.

We love this line because it is formaldehyde-free, but it still lasts—especially with the help of its Ultra Speed-Dry Manicure Extender.  No joke, it takes a lot to chip these bad boys—especially if Lidia is hooking you up with her famous manicures and pedicures!

Chinese New Year: Dive In!

Year of the Tiger

Ok, so it’s the Year of the Tiger according to Chinese New Year calendar, and the forecast is a dramatic one.  Coincidentally, it begins on February 14th–just in time to pull those tiger moves in the bedroom!  I’m just kidding, especially coming from someone who is single (but I had to do it).  Regardless of whether you are single, attached, or married, there is something cool to consider about the year of the tiger beginning on Valentine’s Day.  The characteristics of a tiger are actually, in some cases, the opposite of those of the quintessential Valentine’s Day holiday.  In tiger eyes, there is no room for being “gushy”and vulnerable (or depressed and/or disappointed for that matter).  For the king of the jungle, it’s about being strong, passionate, and charming—-without losing your reserved coolness…The “animal of the Read the rest of this entry »
