Vogue’s Got A Berry Good Look!!!

As we slowly but surly creep towards the end of summer, one thing the world highly awaits and looks forward to is the September issue of American Vogue, this year editor and chief to the fashion bible Anna Wintour , picked the stunning Ms. Halle Berry to grace the iconic cover . Obviously they asked none other than our very own color director Anthony Palermo  to add his signature  to this masterpiece.  His predictions for a gorgeous fall look …. It’s a super chic shorter haircut he says, beautiful shades of chocolate , with ribbons of caramel , honey, and of course a berry on top!!

Like a Jean-Pool

It is so hard to believe that I was about 13 when I was possessed by the all mighty powers of Madonna.   Girls in Junior High’s across the world not only walked around singing Like A Virgin in front of their parents without any fear.  They cut their t-shirts across the belly, hocked up their skirts, tied rags in their hair, triple pierced ears, and wore what the kids call now “silly bracelets.”  I mean, hundreds at a time, in every color!  Who knew 3o something years later there would be an offspring creating a clothing line named appropriately “Material Girl.”  What does she know about the 80’s, you ask?  While the rest of us have to google the pop stars’ images, all she has to do is ransack her mom’s closet!

Tommy’s Girl

Hair Styling by Creative Director Leonard Zagami

We would love to give props to The All-American Woman, Dee Hilfiger.  She stunned everyone at the Met Gala wearing a white frock (designed by her husband) looking glamorous, sexy, classic and elegant. With a little help from our very own Creative Director Leonard Zagami and make-up guru Amy Orsman, we could only say she was a sure bet at The Met!

Word to Your Mother

Ok, so we all know how difficult gift-giving can get—especially when you have to fight over room in the aisle while looking for the perfect card.  It’s especially hard when you wait until the day before (like moi), and there is not much left to choose from…Does Mother’s Day shopping have to be so damn stressful?  Not really.  It’s just about telling someone close to you how grateful you are for the things they’ve done, right?  Read the rest of this entry »

A Little Piece of Africa in Times Square

Anthony Palermo and Leonard Zagami have seen the new musical on Broadway, FELA! and they highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys an interesting storyline with uplifting Afrobeat rhythmic music to boot.  They caught the incredible March 9th performance of Emmy Award Winner Kevin Mambo as Fela Kuti, the legendary Nigerian musician, and Tony Award Winner Lillias White as Fela’s mother.  The overall strength of the story was complemented by the cast’s talented singers and energetic dancers.  Tickets are as low as $35 on Tuesday through Thursday and on Sunday evening. To get special rates on tickets, visit BroadwayOffers.com and use code FEDM223, or call 212.947.8844 and mention code FEDM223.

Rockstar Rocks New ‘Do

Color by Anthony Palermo

Julian Casablancas, whose music you may have heard during your last appointment at Anthony Leonard Salon, (or whom you may have seen in Anthony Palermo’s chair) may be known by some as lead singer/songwriter of rock band The Strokes, but as any artist, he’s much more than that.  In fact, Julian recently released a solo album entitled Phrazes for the Young, on which he includes profoundly insightful “Phrazes” in the songs, and on the CD jacket as well.  Aside from being an amazing songwriter, Julian is good at keeping a straight face while performing with Andy Samberg during parody videos like “Boombox,” on last week’s Saturday Night Live.  If you missed it, check it out below—Just remember, the boombox is not a toy!

Julian will be headlining at Irving Plaza (aka The Fillmore East) next Wednesday, March 24th.  For more tour information visit his website: http://www.juliancasablancas.com/
