Backstage at Melani Von Alexandria, Fashion Stylist Nole Marin decided to change the look! “ALIENS,” he said. “ALIENS IS WHAT I WANT!” Luckily, Carmen of Moroccanoil personally gifted our star stylist, Leonard Zagami, 12 cans of Moroccanoil Hair Spray for his kit, which helped create the “out of this planet” look. Anthony Leonard at Bryant Park’s Herve Leger Fall 2010 Show

As invited guests of this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Herve Leger Fall 2010 Runway Show, Anthony Palermo and Leonard Zagami were able to actually enjoy the front-end as audience members of the glam show, rather than the production behind the scenes, for a change. There was an “L.A. girl” feel to the collection of party dresses that were shown, in black and neutrals, short and skin-tight. Model hair was made sleek and clean-looking in ponytails, with the help of Moroccanoil products. For Anthony and Leonard, the highlight of the show was seeing A-list celebrity Alexis Dziena, styled by our very own Mary Zingone, sitting front-row (pictured above). Leave it to Mary to give a sexy look, worthy of paparazzi appeal! Makeup by Andie Markoe-Byrne.

Salon Event Moved to Next Wed. 2/17/10!

Due to the increasingly convincing reports that NYC will in fact be hit with a substantial amount of snow on Wednesday 2/10/2010, the 2nd Annual Pre-Valentine’s Day Event has been rescheduled. It seems that with the school closings throughout NYC, and flight cancellations, this may be the real thing (as opposed to last Saturday’s false alarm). Chinese New Year: Dive In!

Ok, so it’s the Year of the Tiger according to Chinese New Year calendar, and the forecast is a dramatic one. Coincidentally, it begins on February 14th–just in time to pull those tiger moves in the bedroom! I’m just kidding, especially coming from someone who is single (but I had to do it). Regardless of whether you are single, attached, or married, there is something cool to consider about the year of the tiger beginning on Valentine’s Day. The characteristics of a tiger are actually, in some cases, the opposite of those of the quintessential Valentine’s Day holiday. In tiger eyes, there is no room for being “gushy”and vulnerable (or depressed and/or disappointed for that matter). Tim Burton Exhibit at MoMA

Tim Burton Exhibit at MoMA
So we’ve finally had a chance to check out the Tim Burton Exhibit at the MoMA up the block, and it is the epitome of Tim Burton—-dark, funny, quirky, strange, fascinatingly original, and to sum it all up in one phrase: cool as hell. I guess you can say that my opinion is biased, since I have had a picture of Edward Scissorhands on my bedroom wall since the movie came out (and brought it to my “adult” apartment as a childhood souvenir). There’s just something amazing about seeing Tim Burton’s handwriting on a piece of loose-leaf paper with the story of Edward Scissorhands, among countless others, reminding us that it all started as just a thought.
